A Walk On The Wild Side

Two posts in one day - you lucky lot!

As you know, on Wednesday evening I attended a bloggers event for Pink Clove. For a few days before I ummed and ahhed over what to wear. With so many fabulous bloggers in attendance I knew I wanted to make sure that I was 100% happy with my outfit. I also wanted to try and minimize the chance of anyone else wearing the same outfit as me!

In the end I opted for this leopard print gaga dress from Yours Clothing. I have had this dress for ages and so I thought, the chances of someone else wearing it would be minimal.

I am very lucky in that one of my favouritest people in the world is a make up artist, so she came over to my flat before I went to give me a make over - and I was really happy with the results! Lucia also blogs over at www.ucantwearthat.com so make sure you check her out!

I teamed up the outfit with black leggings, white shoes with a black bow and a black and white bag. Of course this was too monochrome for me, so I had to add a splash of colour with my fabulous Black Heart Creatives, Wannabe Princess neckace!

The event was held at Hush Restuarent in Mayfair, which was really lovely! The setting outside was really nice, walking down a cobbled street into the courtyard was beautiful!

Posing in Mayfair

I had a really nice night and the pieces on offer from Pink Clove are lovely - I thoroughly recommend checking them out!

I attended the event with Leighanne from Bump and Beyond and Lucia from U Can't Wear That. Here we are all dressed up and ready to go, before leaving the house!

Head Over Heels In Love... With Pink Clove!

Last night I was lucky enough to be invited to a bloggers event for Pink Clove. Avid readers of my blog will know that I have already blogged about the site because it captured my attention as soon as it was launched! As a plus size retailer that actually does most (if not all?) of its lines up to a size 30/32 it was a welcome addition to the world of plus size fatshion in my eyes.

Original Review Here:
http://imawannabeprincess.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/abc-of-pink-clove-brand-new-plus-size.html

In my original write up I told you I fell in love with the typography dress - and now I have seen it, felt it and seen the cut of it, I want it even more. This is most definitely a dress I need in my life.

The Event

The event was held in the prestigious Hush restaurant in Mayfair. Located in Lancashire Court it had a beautiful setting and the private dining room did not disappoint.

When we arrived we were greeted by the Pink Clove PR team and a pink Bellini (YUM!) and invited to take a look at the clothes. There were 3 racks of clothes, broken down into different sections to showcase the range of Pink Clove clothing. After that we had a sit down 3 course meal and a chance to chat with the rest of the bloggers. There were 10 of us there in total and it was really nice to put names to faces I have seen online and read the blogs of.

The Dinner

Unsuprisingly for a Mayfair restuarant - the food was amazing! There was a really nice selection of food which meant that there was something to suit everyone. I opted for the pulled pork and yorkshire pudding starter, fishcake main and a treacle sponge for dessert - all delicious!

The Clothes

What can I say? The range of clothes is small(ish!), but perfectly formed! Seeing as Pink Clove are a brand new brand it is no surprise that they don't have quite as many offerings as some of the big game players in the plus size market. I just hope that in time they'll be able to expand because the items that they have do seem amazing. (I'd love to see a Pink Clove range of accessories and shoes - but maybe I am just being a bit greedy!)

The brand has something to cater for everyone - from pretty skirts to logo tshirts and from smart jackets to floral dresses - it has it all!

The clothes on the rails were all a size 16 but were definitely generous fittings. The top sizes come in 26/28 and 30/32 but judging by what I have seen so far, they'll be a great fit! The clothes were high quality and stretched without ruining the look of the piece, which is always a bonus!

What I Liked Best

What I liked best is that some of the most striking patterns in the collection were used in more than one piece. It can be annoying when you see a pattern in a skirt you like, but you know you would prefer it in a dress. It seems that Pink Clove have tried to fix this problem by having patterns repeated across items - what a great idea!

Home Time

When we left we were sent home with a lovely goody bag and a gorgeous cupcake - what lucky girls!

This morning I have placed an order for the typography dress, I knew I wouldn't be able to resist for long! I also have my eye on the tartan dress too, might have to use my birthday at the end of September as an excuse to treat myself! ;)

Have you bought anything from the site yet? Or browsed it?

What are your favourite pieces?

Drinks in Soho

Last night I went out for drinks in Soho and had the usual last minute worry of what to wear. In the end I was really pleased with the simple but pretty outfit I wore, so I thought I would do a rare Outfit Of The Day Post and put it up here for you all to have a nosey at!

10 Honest Thoughts On Being Loved by a Skinny Boy!

Thanks to the wonder of Facebook I discovered this amazing piece by Rachel Wiley today! It isn't the sort of thing I usually blog about, as I don't have much to say on it - but I loved it and think it could really benefit some people!

Please give it a watch/read!

1.

I say, ‘I am fat.’
He says ‘No, you are beautiful.’
I wonder why I cannot be both.
He kisses me
hard.

2.
My college theater professor once told me
that despite my talent,
I would never be cast as a romantic lead.
We do plays that involve singing animals
and children with the ability to fly,
but apparently no one
has enough willing suspension of disbelief
to go with anyone loving a fat girl.
I daydream regularly
about fucking my boyfriend vigorously on his front lawn.

3.
On the mornings I do not feel pretty,
while he is still asleep,
I sit on the floor and check the pockets of his skinny jeans for motive,
for a punchline,
for other girls’ phone numbers.

4.
When we hold hands in public,
I wonder if he notices the looks —
like he is handling a parade balloon on a crowded sidewalk;
if he notices that my hands are now made of rope.

5.
Dear Cosmo: Fuck you.
I will not take sex tips from you
on how to please a man you think I do not deserve.

6.
He tells me he loves me with the lights on.

7.
I can cup his hip bone in my hand,
feel his ribs without pressing very hard at all.
He does not believe me when I tell him he is beautiful.
Sometimes I fear the day he does will be the day he leaves.

8.
The cute hipster girl at the coffee shop
assumes we are just friends
and flirts over the counter.
I spend the next two weeks
mentally replacing myself with her
in all of our photographs.
When I admit this to him
we spend the evening taking new photos together.
He will not let me delete a single one of them.

9.
The phrase “Big girls need love too” can die in a fire.
Fucking me does not require an asterisk.
Loving me is not a fetish.
Finding me beautiful is not a novelty.
I am not a fucking novelty.

10.
I say, ‘I am fat.’
He says, ‘No. You are so much more’,
and kisses me
hard.

I loved it all to be honest with you, but I think my favourite part was:

5.
Dear Cosmo: Fuck you.
I will not take sex tips from you
on how to please a man you think I do not deserve.

How very true!!!!

Did you watch it? Which bit did you like?

Discovering Daxon

I love Twitter - I am constantly discovering new plus size retailers to browse, shop and lust over. You'll see at the top of this page a list of recommended plus size retailers - in fact I added 3 new retailers to the list today, so there is nearly 40 on there!

Today, I came across plus size website Daxon, who offer clothing up to a size 36, which is fantastic! What you will find with the range is that they cater to the more mature lady (their words not mine) but I thought I would blog about them anyway. Even if they don't necessarily offer clothes that I would wear (yet!) I think its fantastic that there is another option for people to shop at - so that whoever you are, you have options when it comes to buying new clothes!

The Daxon front page
What I like about their site is that they offer a whole range of different items, so whatever you are shopping for you'll be able to find it on their pages. Whether you want dresses, tops, skirts, trousers or jackets they have a wide range on their site to help ensure that they cater to everyone. There are loads of search options on their website too - so finding what you want should be easy enough!

Some of the dresses on their front page
I haven't had a chance to read up much about the site, but I wanted to blog about a page that offered something a little different.

Have you ever bought from their page? What did you think?

Debz x

P.S They have a bloggers network to connect plus size bloggers together which I think is a fantastic idea! You'll see from my side bar on the right that I have applied to be accepted as part of the network, I will let you know how I get on!

Black and Bling

At the weekend I was lucky enough to be invited to the Hen Party of one of my good friends! The original plan was a picnic day in London (with a treasure hunt) and then to go to see a show at Wonderground in Waterloo. Unfortunately the weather put a dampener on our plans - so we ended up having dinner and drinks (what a shame!) in Leicester Square before we went to see the show in Waterloo. If you haven't been to see LIMBO at Waterloo then I can not recommend it enough! The show was breathtaking and Wonderland is fantastic - really worth a visit!

We also paid a cheeky visit to M and M world in the afternoon too! It wasn't my idea honest ;)

The dress code was 'black and bling' and people didn't appoint! As you know, I don't really tend to wear black so I did wonder what I was going to wear. Then I remembered that I bought this black sparkly dress from Excite clothing last  year on eBay and thought it was perfect.

Ignore the badly posed, selfie style photos - I really need to work out the timer on my camera.
Anyway to go with the theme I wore a set of silver bangles from Primark and a frog sparkly necklace from Love Ur Curves.

So, So, So Fabulous!

I know - no prizes for inventive headlines this time around!

I saw a tweet by the So Fabulous team today, which reminded me that I hadn't yet blogged about their dresses - Oops! Sorry. I love loads of the So Fabulous times on their website and with a range that goes up to a size 28 they are perfect (they even have a handful of dresses up to a size 30!).

The  So Fabulous Front Page

I have yet to try the So Fabulous range but I have heard good things about them and can't wait to try them out for myself. I thought I'd do a little ABC feature so you can all get an idea of what they offer!

Absolute Bargain - Horse Print Wrap Dress

At just £16.00 there can be no denying that this dress is a bargain. What I really love about this dress is the unique and funky pattern. It's a way of being a little quirky without being too 'out there'. There is also a floral version of the same dress available for £22.00. I think that the wrap affect on the dress is going to allow it to be very flattering. Depending on the length on you, you will be easily about to wear this with leggings, tights or bare legs! Dress it out with some funky accessories and wear it to your next night out :) You can buy this dress here

Best Value For Money - Dipped Hem Chiffon Dress

I have been looking for a dress to wear for my birthday and this one is definitely on my list. I love the deep colour purple of this dress and think that the cut and fit would be flattering. It is a little different to the style of dress I would usually wear but I think I would be able to pull it off. With some subtle accessories and some pretty shoes it could easily be the perfect birthday girl outfit! At just £35.00 it's fantastic value for money. You can buy this dress here.

Cash To Splash - Lace Skater Dress

To be fair at £44 this dress is still a bit of a bargain, if you have a slightly bigger budget anyway. What I love about this dress is that it is great for those who aren't sure about showing their cleavage  The lace affect is pretty and doesn't deter from the rest of the dress. I don't have much lighter clothing but I do think that as it is a skater dress cut it would fit well at home in my wardrobe. You can buy this dress here.

Have you got any So Fabulous items? What did you think of them?

Merci BeauCoo

It is no secret that I read a lot of blogs - I love them! Over the last few days I have seen on blogs (and on places like Twitter) a few mentions of BeauCoo - a fashion based social networking website. I read Callie's full review on the site on her From The Corners of The Curve blog and decided to sign up (Thanks Callie!)

Their twitter describes them as "Pics on someone your own size! The worlds only body positive style network, just for women" and they're not wrong!

I think it's a great site and wanted to recommend that more people join :)

When you join you put in your own measurements (don't worry they're anonymous) and then you can see fashion based posts by people of a similar size. We all know that different outfits and styles can look different on different shapes and sizes, so now you can look for someone similar to you!

My profile page on the site!

On the site you can look for all sorts though, so you don't have to worry about being limited to just seeing people like you!

When you have joined the site you can post up photos and put where you got them and what you thought of the outfit!

Its a great way to look at recent trends, see different people wearing them and share your own favourite outfits.

As most of you will know I am really passionate about positive body image and people feeling good in whatever they wear and whatever their size. BeauCoo seem to be passionate about the same thing - a fashion website for everyone with a positive body image angle, which is exactly why I wanted to sign up!

You can join up here - let me know if you do and I'll give you a follow!

Breaking Boundaries Without Breaking The Bank

Since I discovered ASOS Curve I have developed a slight obsession with their clothes. I quite literally want to be rich enough to have each of their dresses in my wardrobe - Hopefully my Euromillions ticket will do me proud tonight!

Unfortunately, ASOS Curve aren't doing much to help my addiction by announcing 'silly' sales that make me want to sell my mother (sorry mum) to buy them!

I had a little browse on the ASOS Curve 50% sale today and was pleasantly surprised to see that they had 12 different dresses, in my size all for under £15.00 each. They had loads of dresses that were slightly more too! Very impressive.

I always think when something is that cheap you can afford to try something new and be a little adventurous  I am sure lots of us are guilty of sticking to the same styles when it comes to items that we buy - I know I am! However  for less than £15 all of these dresses are ones that I probably wouldn't immediately buy, but would love to try!

Cold Shoulder Dress In Floral

I have to admit, I don't own any cold shoulder dresses or tops which is a shame really because I really like the look of them. What I like about this dress is that the bold, floral pattern is something I am used to wearing so trying something like this would not be too much out of my comfort zone. I really would love to try and cold shoulder dress and I think for £15.00 it is the perfect time to try it! You can buy this dress here.

Sundress In Star Print

I always say I don;t mind getting my arms out, but when you look through my wardrobe you'll see most items are sleeved. This star print dress caught my eye a few weeks ago and since then it has been reduced in price (to just £15!) which makes it even more desirable. 2 of my friends have the dress and it's really pretty & wears well so I am glad to see it in the sale, which tempts me to buy it (BAD ASOS!). You can buy this dress here.

Skater Dress With Ballet Wrap And Short Sleeve

I bought this dress when it was originally in the sale - though I think it has been reduced even more now! I sized down on this from my usual size and found that it fit fine. I only have one quite drunk photo of me wearing the dress, but you get the idea! The material is quite heavy which I think makes it great for the cooler weather and for £13.00 I don't think you can go far wrong! You can buy this dress here.

Bodycon Dress With Panelled Print

I need more bodycon dresses in my life and who doesn't need more pretty dresses filling up their wardrobes? I love the pattern of this dress - I don't actually own anything that is panelled so I would love to try this! (and for just £12.50 why not!). You can buy this dress here.

Do sales tempt you to try new things, or would you rather stick to what you know?

The Liebster Award

I woke up this morning and checked the blogs that I follow - nothing new for a Sunday morning really! I am excited that I can add my friend Helens blog to the list, because she has finally started blogging! About time really :) Check out Candifloss Clouds when you get 5 minutes, well worth a read!

Anyway, her newest post was something called the The Liebster Award where you basically nominate your favourite blogs for an award, help spread the word and give 'under rated' blogs the chance to get a bit more exposure!

The Liebster Award is given to new, up and coming blogs who have less than 200 followers. Awards like these are a fantastic way to spread the word about new blogs who may be struggling to make their name amongst other blogs.
Liebster is German for dearest, kindest, sweetest, lovely, valued, endearing and welcome. Sweet, huh?
We all know that blogging is all about sharing, connecting and building a community. And these kind of awards are a great way to help promote smaller blogs, and to get to know the person behind the blog.

There are of course some rules, these are as follows…
1. Show your appreciation by linking back to the person who nominated you.
2. List 11 facts about yourself.
3. Answer the 11 questions given to you by the person who nominated you.
4. Nominate another 11 blogs, preferably with less than 200 followers, to pass the award on to.
5. Compile 11 questions for your nominees to answer.
6. Notify the bloggers you have nominated.

2) What is your favourite thing about being a blogger?

3) What makes you want to sit down and read a blog?

4) What tip would you give someone who wants to get into blogging?

5) What is your favourite item of clothing?
